the 31st of august was my 2 year anniversary here in Guatemala (woo-hoo and stuff). it was so ridiculously appropriate how i woke up that morning.
it was 5 am. i was sleeping better than any baby has EVER slept. i awoke suddenly. i was pretty sure that the world was coming to an end that very instant, and/or, that there was a earthquake, and/or that my shelves had all broken and their contents were being tossed upon my tile floor creating a giant ruckus. whatever was happening, it was creating a "giant ruckus" not heard before at this hour of the morning, and it was REALLY confusing jake.
turns out, the neighbors were celebrating a birthday by setting off dynamite. ok, so it was fireworks, but they were literally shaking the windows on my house. i consider myself pretty accustomed to that kind of thing, but i really wish i had a video of that event, the look on my face would have made all of us laugh at me. ha.

You should try and pass a noise ordinance.

a noise ordinance? yeah right, he couldn't pass a kindergarten entrance exam with a cheat sheet. funniest part of that was that i had to look up how to spell kindergarten. yeah, i had it wrong. who knew it was a "t"?!
jdo
Aug 31st was Caleb's 1st birthday, must have been a good day for a birthday. No fireworks or earthquakes, just a candle and cupcakes. When the kids get older you'll have to come demonstrate how to celebrate Guat-style. :)
jdo, you're not one of those people who drive me crazy by spelling 'congradulations' are you?
:) Sara L.
Congrats on 2 years!
